A Few Ideas To Get You Started
Traditionally alum is used in pickling as the crisping agent. Use it to make your own play dough for the kids:

- 2 cups water
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup salt
- 2 tablespoons alum
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- food coloring, as desired

Bring water to a boil. Mix flour, salt, alum and oil; add to water. Stir in desired food coloring. Add additional flour if mixture is too sticky. Cool before using.
